The Happiest Haunt in Town

While many of us look forward to haunt season for the scares and gore, we know that being surrounded by the macabre isn’t for everyone. If you’re in the Central Florida area and are looking for a Halloween celebration that doesn’t give you nightmares, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the perfect *mildly* spooky event.

Whether you’ve got kids that are too young for other events, or if you simply aren’t up for the intensity of some of the other haunts we cover, this Disney-themed Halloween Party is a blast for all ages. AND this year it has an all-new theme- Hocus Pocus!!!

The Magic Kingdom has already undergone its in-park annual transformation to get ready for the fall season. Before even entering the park, pumpkins, orange flowers, and festive banners are all front and center to get you in the autumnal spirit.

Upon entrance, you are surrounded by the wonderful nostalgia of Main Street U.S.A. with a little Halloween flair. There are friendly carved Jack-O-Lanterns EVERYWHERE, and Mickey-shaped Halloween wreaths line the entire street. While the decor isn’t continued throughout the entire park, there are many little details in the various lands of the Kingdom that give a nod to the Halloween season.

This year, MNSSHP will be held September 15-November 1. The HallowWishes Fireworks show is stunning, there’s trick-or-treating all over the park (even for adults!), unique character meet-and-greets, and a special parade that features all of Disney’s most famous villains and even some of their rarely-seen characters like the caretaker from the Haunted Mansion!

The main show of the event this year is called the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular and will feature the Sanderson sisters back from the grave and ready to run “amok” throughout the Magic Kingdom. Tickets start at $68 but vary depending on the date, so book soon! Also, this is a Halloween event that is designed for dressing up, so start planning your costume!
