R.I.P. Wes Craven 1939-2015

HauntScene is very sorry to hear about the loss of director Wes Craven, who passed away today at the age of 76 after a battle with brain cancer.  His impact on horror is undeniable and some of his creations have made it into some of Universal’s most memorable haunts from A Nightmare on Elm Street to classics like The People Under the Stairs. Many other titles come to mind when thinking about this innovative director, including The Hills Have Eyes, The Last House on the Left, and Shocker.

I think it’s only fitting that we are having a Freddy Vs. Jason house this year at Halloween Horror Nights, and I have a feeling we may see a small tribute to this iconic man who kept me up at night as a kid.  Even if there isn’t, I think the house itself will be a fitting goodbye to an amazing visionary in the horror genre.

Rest in Peace Wes, you were a genius of the macabre and your imagination shaped horror into what it is today.
