The Devil’s Carnival Makes its First Stop in Florida
The first installment of The Devil’s Carnival was released in 2012 and presented the world with the perfect blending or horror, whimsy, and music. After it became extremely popular on Netflix, fans were ecstatic to hear of its return earlier this year. The sequel, Alleluia, officially premiered in California on the 11th of August and is now spreading its mischief all over America.
Those who purchased special packages were given early entrance and posters signed by the film’s writer and director, Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV) and Terrance Zdunich (Repo! The Genetic Opera). Although both men were expected to be at the event, Bousman was absent due to a family emergency.
Before the show, the crowd was treated to a special performance by Tampa Bay’s very own top burlesque performer Vita DeVoid. She dazzled the audience with a sideshow act that included self-penetration with needles, a bed of nails, and playing “human paper dolls”.
Then, after a screening of the new film, Zdunich and actor J. Larose took the stage for an intimate Q & A session with the audience. According to Zdunich, there IS a possibility of a third film being made in the future. However, for now he is putting his efforts into a music project called American Murder Song that he is very excited about premiering.
It was reiterated time and time again that The Devil’s Carnival would not be possible without the support and contributions of the fans. The event itself felt like an homage to the fans, and it was clear that everyone involved in the film is appreciative of the experience and sense of family that has developed with it.
The show will be continuing its national tour over the next two months and will be making two more stops in Florida:
- Tampa, October 4th, Tampa Pitcher Show
- Winter Garden, October 6th, Garden Theatre
Get your tickets now because they are selling out FAST! There are packages starting at $20.
Even if you’re not familiar with Bousman and Zdunich’s films, this is a really special event that would be fun for anyone. So get ready and spread the word, because the carnival is coming to town!
